whats the advantage of a non digital mixer (mackie, behringer or what ever)when working with digital software? Thanks, Tyruse

Better summing. You can use outboard gear easier too I suppose - taking some strain off your cpu..
I just mix in the box at the moment but if I had some good outboard gear I'd get me a mixer.

analog gear generally sounds better than digital...since it's not digital

Its also the cheapest way to get a heap of decent preamps. You can also do things like use low-cut switches to get rid of low freq. stuff before it even gets to PT- saves time and plug/CPU space later.
I'm not sure if it sounds "better" but it does sound different. The panning seems wider, the EQ is easier to use and can get more extreme without sounding weird, etc.
