Hi guys,
somebody saw this post somewhere:
"just heard the worst news today guys, and I hope its not true. The worst part of all this is, that it came from a reliable source!! I just heard that the NorthEast rep from steinberg USA has quit from Steinberg after he himself heard rumors that it was being sold. The worst part of all this is that, DIGIDESIGN (a.k.a. PRO-TOOLS) is gonna be the buyer. This could only mean that they would probably get rid of cubase. Lord knows that I wish that I truely wish that this is not the case. I will do some more checking and possibly speak to the north east rep myself....I know him personally. If anyone hears anything about this....plz let us all know. Sorry that I had to be the one to break it to you guys first. I will keep you guys updated."
Anyone of you heared that rumour?

Haven't heard it. That guy seems to be getting upset for nothing though. Corporations buy each other all the time. Cubase, Wavelab etc are really strong products and Digidesign would be buying it for that reason, to make money from them. It's like Woolworths buying Seven Eleven, they wouldn't shut down the Seven Elevens and replace them with Woolworth shops, they'd just reap the profits from a product taylored to a different market. At least that's my uneducated guess.

yeah, i don't know about that rumor. why would someone quit if he heard a rumor of being bought out? he wouldn't get any of the benefits of being let go after the a company bought them out. Unless he's an idiot. And I agree with protein, I think if Digi did buy them they'd keep steinburg around. And my guess would be that it wouldn't be Digi buying them. It'd really be Avid...and they'd be in for more money, not for less competition. They bought out M-Audio and we're not hearing of any of the hardware being phased out. I don't know, we'll see what happens

I can't find another version of it anywhere so probably it isn't true. I guess.
And we'll hear of it otherwise...
